Biodex Balance System

Product Description: Biodex Balance System
The Biodex Balance System SD is designed to meet the needs of individuals aiming to improve their balance, enhance agility, develop muscle tone, and address a variety of health conditions. With its user-friendly touchscreen interface, the Balance System SD is easy to learn and operate, guiding users step-by-step through testing protocols and training modes, both in static and dynamic formats. This highly versatile system offers fast and accurate fall risk screening and conditioning programs specifically for older adults. It also provides closed-chain, weight-bearing assessment and training for lower extremity patients, making it an essential tool for concussion management programs by adding an objective balance assessment component.
The Balance System SD is a useful training tool designed to improve kinesthetic abilities, which can help compensate for impaired proprioceptive reflex mechanisms after an injury. With this unique device, clinicians can evaluate neuromuscular control by measuring the ability to maintain dynamic postural stability, both bilaterally and unilaterally, on both stable and unstable surfaces.
Features:
Meeting multiple clinical needs with a single tool.
- Static and Dynamic (SD) – Offers 12 levels of platform control as well as static force setting.
- Balance Training – Includes proprioception, stabilization, range of motion, and weight shift exercises.
- Fall Risk Screening Test Protocol – Standardized protocol that compares balance test results to age-dependent normative data.
- Microsoft SQL Database – Allows clinician to easily store and retrieve patient data, multiple tests per patient. Export to Excel® for reporting and analytics.
- Objective Documentation – Printed color reports prove need, track progress and document outcomes – ideal for insurance reimbursement.
- Concussion Management Protocol – For preseason baseline testing and post-injury return-to-play management. Compare to age-dependent normative data using modified Clinical Test for Sensory Integration of Balance (mCTSIB).
- Normative Data – Healthy populations stored for test comparison of older adults for fall screening and student athletes for concussion management.
- Audio/Visual Biofeedback – Motivates patient by prompting proper balance control in real-time. Allows clinicians to easily monitor patients during interactive testing and training.
- Games for Balance – Single and dual-task, and high-repetition balance training games enhance patient engagement and drive better outcomes.
- Vibrotactile Feedback – Enhanced biofeedback for Biodex balance technology.
- Support Handles: Adjustable from 34″- 47″ above platform (86 – 19 cm). Handles can be removed when not in use or interchanged with the optional FreeSway Handles.
- FreeSway Handles – Floating handles provide security without impeding balance recovery.
- Locking Surface – Helps ensure patient safety while moving on or off the platform.
- Mobility – Transport wheels allow easy relocation between the clinic and the community for fall screening programs and health fairs.
Biodex Gait Trainer

Product Description: The Gait Trainer is the only treadmill equipped with an instrumented deck that monitors and records step length, step speed, and step symmetry, allowing you to demonstrate patients’ progress more effectively. It not only shows that patients are improving faster but also documents these results.
More than just a treadmill, the Biodex Gait Trainer incorporates evidence-based techniques at your fingertips. By utilizing audio cueing, visual biofeedback, and music-assisted therapy integration, the Gait Trainer 3 promotes neuroplasticity, creating new movement pathways.
Biofeedback Enhances Patient Outcomes
The incorporation of real-time visual biofeedback motivates patients by encouraging them to adopt correct gait patterns. The Biodex Gait Trainer 3 uniquely compares actual footfall to the target step length. This real-time biofeedback helps patients stay aligned with their rehabilitation goals throughout each phase.
Product Features:
- Intuitive Software and Large Display – 15.6″ touchscreen display for enhanced user experience.
- Open Platform – Enables patient access for therapist interaction; easily accommodates BWSTT with the Biodex Unweighing System.
- Instrumented Deck – Platform monitors and records step length, step speed, and right-to-left time distribution (step symmetry).
- Audio Cueing and Visual Biofeedback – Motivates patients with real-time biofeedback, prompting proper gait patterns. Biofeedback helps patients stay on target in each phase of rehabilitation.
- Microsoft SQL Database – Allows clinicians to easily store and retrieve patient data, including multiple tests per patient. Export to Excel® for reporting and analytics.
- Objective Documentation – Lets you quantify patient progress and demonstrate the benefits of treatment. Biodex technology helps accelerate positive patient outcomes and then lets you prove it.
- Normative Data – Robust database of healthy population by age and gender for comparative patient assessment.
- Heart Rate Monitoring – Polar® contact handgrips (telemetry compatible) ensures proper training intensity.
